Ann instinctively turned her love of design into a career, after doing a complete kitchen makeover in her own home and lending her keen eye to choosing colour palettes for others. “I have always done this, not realizing it was something I could get paid to do,” she says.

Today, Ann is in demand as Sudbury’s foremost home staging consultant, which usually opens the door to related interior design opportunities

Sisters Lisa and Carissa, the “LC” behind LC Home Solutions, left behind corporate jobs in 2017 to start their own business offering interior design, décor, staging services and renovation coordination. Get to know more about these up-and-coming designers’ fresh style in Barrydowne Paint's Q&A below.

A graduate of Fanshawe College with a future goal of earning her Bachelors of Interior Design and specializing in commercial spaces, Brooke-Lyn has been part of the Barrydowne Paint family for the past two years and a freelance decorator for one. She’s always been intrigued by mixing patterns, colours and textures to create unique and personalized spaces, knowing that these elements can not only transform a room, but affect our mood.

When hanging wallpaper the most important tool you will need to have is patience! Take things slowly and measure twice while cutting only once. It is in our opinion that Benjamin Moore’s design team this year continued to find bold colour choices, as well as playing on the inspiration of light, which is similar to their claims of inspiration for the 2016 trends. While both the 2016 & 2017 colour trends encourages users to step out of their comfort zone, this year the warm, rich, muted tones form a palette of cohesive and complimentary colours. The jewel tones, such as Shadow, Salamander, Dark Burgundy and Gentleman’s Gray can be put in just about any space without being overwhelmingly dark by balancing them out with some of the lighter shades like Wish, Iceberg, Porcelain or Cloud Cover. If there is a room in your house that needs a fresh look, go out on a limb and trust a colour from the 2017 Colour Trends Palette.
