Sansin DEC is best used for horizontal surfaces (decks).This product is designed as a two-coat formula that penetrates deeply, protecting your wood from within. Where many deck coatings easily peel and scratch, exposing wood to the elements, Dec enhances wood tissue with lasting protection from rain and UV exposure. Like all Sansin Enviro Stains, it is environmentally friendly; and by allowing wood to “breathe“ naturally, helps maintain a healthy moisture equilibrium that inhibits decay.
Sansin SDF is best used for vertical surfaces (fences and siding). Sansin SDF provides tough, effective protection for wood siding. SDF’s specially formulated oils and resins penetrate into the wood, providing outstanding weather and UV protection in a wide range of natural, semi-transparent and even solid colours. Thanks to SDF’s unique water-borne technology, it can provide complete protection in just one coat – although a second coat will provide an even more beautiful and richer finish.
Cetol SRD RE is a one-coat, translucent exterior wood finish created for use on a wide variety of surfaces. This easy-to-use finish has excellent UV protection and allows for beautiful wood clarity.
One coat application makes maintenance of exterior surfaces easier. Offers a water repellant finish that provides UV protection. Provides a matte finish of your surface. It is a solvent based product, which will require mineral spirits for clean up.

Solid stains will look like a paint while allowing the wood to breathe. It is a film forming product, so at the end of its life due to weathering, it will begin to peel and crack. Solid stains are a great option for older wood, the solid opaque finish will help to hide imperfections and weathering that has occurred. If you wish to coat your deck with a solid stain you want to ensure it is at least 4 feet off the ground. If it is lower than this moisture tends to get trapped underneath and you will experience product failure much sooner.
