Sunshine. Daisies. Sweet lemony pie. All cheerful images we usually associate with the warmth of yellow. And yet, studies show that babies cry more often in yellow nurseries and that married couples argue most inside kitchens painted in, you guessed it, the “happiest” colour.
Your favourite steakhouse is definitely onto something. In the presence of red, we tend to eat more – and eat longer – so it’s a popular choice for restaurant décor. Menus too. Its calming effect rejuvenates us on the home front too, which is why blue reigns in bedrooms and family rooms.
