Concrete Solutions for Ugly Countertops

Throughout my week I help countless customers select paint colours for their Kitchens and Bathrooms. In many of these cases, we are trying to work with fixtures in undesirable and dated colours. I don’t need to tell you how difficult it can be to modernize a kitchen when working with a harvest gold or moss green countertop! For many of these clients, the high cost of beautiful granite or stone simply isn’t in the budget, or they need a quick fix for resale. For these clients, I suggest exploring one of the many countertop refinishing systems available on the market.

My favourite new product for countertops is Encore’s Complete Countertop Refinishing System. This product is a concrete refinishing system, and so stylish that Restoration Hardware features a line of tables created using the Encore product in their latest catalogue. Encore has the look of a modern honed concrete. The product is available in five on-trend colours, and while there is little colour variation in the finished product each countertop has a depth of colour that cannot be achieved using paint. The finish is an elegant low-luster with a subtle trowel texture, which looks excellent with smooth surfaces like glass tile.

Compared to other options available in our stores, the Encore system requires the most time. The process takes 3 days, and three easy-to-use components. The increased down-time with this product is well worth the effort as the finished result is outstandingly beautiful. The durability of Encore is unmatched by any of the other systems available on the market, as it is a true concrete finish versus a paint that could chip. Many client’s are hesitant to tackle their own Countertop facelift. Having helped many homeowners, I can say with confidence that the Encore system delivers impressive results and has a return-on-investment that is unmatched by any other countertop medium. With a detailed step-by-step instructions and dvd tutorials included in each and every kit, it could not be easier to use.
